Haftarah for Shabbat Chanukah
14Sing and be glad, O daughter of Zion, for behold!—I come and I will dwell among you—the words of HaShem. 15Many nations will attach themselves to HaShem on that day, and they shall become a people unto Me, but I will dwell among you—then you will realize that HaShem, Master of Legions, has sent me to you. 16HaShem shall take Yehudah as a heritage to Himself for His portion upon the Holy Land, and He shall choose Yerusalim again. 17Be silent, all flesh, before HaShem, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!
1He showed me Yoshuah the Kohen Gadol standing before an angel of HaShem, and the Satan standing at his right to accuse him. 2And HaShem said to the Satan, “HaShem shall denounce you. O Satan, and HaShem Who chooses Yerusalim shall denounce you again; this is indeed a firebrand rescued from the flames.” 3Yoshuah was dressed in soiled garments as he stood before the angel. 4The angel spoke up and said to those standing before him, saying, “Remove the soiled garments from upon him.” Then he said to him, “See, I have removed your iniquity from upon you and had you clothed in fresh garments.”
5Then I said, “Let them place a pure turban on his head”; and they placed the pure turban on his head and they dressed him in garments; and the angel of HaShem remained standing.
6Then the angel of HaShem warned Yoshuah, saying, 7“So said HaShem, Master of Legions: If you walk in My ways and safeguard My charge, then you shall administer My Temple and safeguard My courtyards, and I shall permit your movement among those immobile angels. 8Listen now, O Yoshuah the Kohen Gadol—you and your fellows sitting before you, for they are miracle workers—for behold I bring My servants, the flourishing one. 9For behold!—the stone that I have placed before Yoshuah, seven eyes toward one stone; behold I am engraving its adomment, the words of HaShem, Master of Legions, and I have removed the sin of that land in one day. 10On that day, the words of HaShem, Master of Legions, each man will invite his fellow beneath the vine and beneath the fig tree.”
1The angel who spoke with me returned and woke me, as a man awakened from his sleep. 2He said to me, “What do you see?”
I said, “I see, and behold!—there is a Menorah made entirely of gold with its bowl on top, and its seven lamps are upon it and there are seven tubes to each of the lamps that are on its top. 3And two olive trees are near it, one to the right of the bowl and one to its left.”
4And I spoke up and said to the angel that was speaking to me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”
5The angel who was speaking to me spoke up and said to me, “Do you not know what they are?” I said, “No, my lord.”
6He spoke up and said to me, saying, “This is the word of HaShem to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not through armies and through might, but through My spirit,’ says HaShem, Master of Legions. 7Who are you, O great mountain—before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! He shall bring forth the main stone to shouts of, ‘Beauty, beauty to it!’ ”
