Parsha BaMidbar Aliyah 6

BaMidbar 3:40—51

40HaShem spoke to Moshe, “Count every firstborn male of the Children of Yisra’el from one month of age and up, and take a census of their names. 41You shall take the Levi’im for Me – I, HaShem – in place of every firstborn of the Children of Yisra’el, and the livestock of the Levi’im in place of every firstborn of the animals of the Children of Yisra’el.” 42Moshe counted – as HaShem had commanded him – every firstborn of Children of Yisra’el. 43Every firstborn male according to the number of their names, from one month of age and up, according to their numbers, was twenty-two thousand, two hundred and seventy-three.

44HaShem spoke to Moshe, saying, 45“Take the Levi’im in place of every firstborn of the Children of Yisra’el, and the livestock of the Levi’im in place of their livestock, and the Levi’im shall be Mine, I am HaShem. 46And as for the redemptions of the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of the Children of Yisra’el who are in excess of the Levi’im; 47you shall take five shekels each according to the head count, in the sacred shekel shall you take; the shekel is twenty gera. 48You shall give the money to Aharon and his sons, as redemptions of the additional ones among them.”

49Moshe took the money of the redemption from those who were in excess of the redemptions of the Levi’im; 50from the firstborn of the Children of Yisra’el he took the money; one thousand, three hundred and sixty-five in the sacred shekel. 51Moshe gave the money of the redemptions to Aharon and his sons according to the Word of HaShem, as HaShem had commanded Moshe.
