BaMidbar (Numbers) 10:11-34
11It was in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, the cloud was lifted from upon the Tabernacle of the Testimony. 12The Children of Yisra’el journeyed on their journeys from the Wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the Wilderness of Par’an.
13They journeyed for the first time at the bidding of HaShem through Moshe. 14The banner of the camp of the children of Yehudah journeyed first according to their legions, and over its legion was Nach’shon ben Ami’nadav; 15over the legion of the tribe of the children of Yisachar was Ne’tan’el ben Tsu’ar; 16and over the legion of the tribe of Zevu’lun was Eli’av ben Che’lon.
17The Tabernacle was taken down, then journeyed the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, the bearers of the Tabernacle.
18Then journeyed the banner of the camp of R’uven according to their legions; and over its legion was Elitsur ben She’de’ur; 19over the legion of the tribe of the children of Shimon was She’lu’mi’el ben Tsuri’shaddai; 20and over the legion of the tribe of the children Gad was Elyasaf ben De’uel. 21Then journeyed the Kohathites, bearers of the sanctuary; and they would erect the Tabernacle before their arrival.
22Then journeyed the banner of Efrayim according to their legions, and over its legion was Eli’shama ben Ami’hud; 23over the legion of the tribe of the children of Menashe was Gamli’el ben Peda’tsur; 24and over the legion of the tribe of the children of Binyamin was Avidan ben Gidoni.
25Then journeyed the banner of the camp of the children of Dan, the rear guard of all the camps, according to their legions, and over its legion was Achi’ezer ben Ami’shaddai; 26over the legion of the tribe of the children Asher was Pagiel ben Ochran; 27and over the legion of the tribe of the children of Naftali was Achira ben Einan. 28These are the journeys of the Children of Yisra’el according to their legions, and they journeyed.
29Moshe said to Hov’av ben Re’uel, the Midianites, the father-in-law of Moshe, “We are journeying to the place of which HaShem has said, ‘I shall give it to you.’ Go with us and we shall treat you well, for HaShem has spoken of good for Yisra’el.” 30He said to him, “I shall not go; only to my land and my family shall I go.” 31He said, “Please do not forsake us, inasmuch as you know our encampments in the Wilderness, and you have been eyes for us. 32And it shall be that if you come with us, then with the goodness with which HaShem will benefit us, we will do good to you.”
33They journeyed from the Mountain of HaShem a three-day distance, and the Ark of the covenant of HaShem journeyed before them a three-day distance to search out for them a resting place. 34The cloud of HaShem was over them by day when they journeyed from the camp.
