Parsha Masei Aliyah 7

Masei (Numbers) 36:1-13

1The heads of the fathers of the family of the children of Gilead, ben Machir ben Menashe, of the families of the children of Yosef, approached and spoke to Moshe and before the leaders, the heads of the fathers of the Children of Yisra’el. 2They said, “HaShem has commanded my master to give the Land as an inheritance by lot to the Children of Yisra’el, and my master has been commanded by HaShem to give the inheritance to Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. 3If they become wives of one of the sons of the tribes of the Children of Yisra’el, then their inheritance will be subtracted from the inheritance of our fathers and be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they will marry, and it will be subtracted from the lot of our inheritance. 4And when the Yuvilee will arrive for the Children of Yisra’el, their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they will marry; and from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers will their inheritance be subtracted.”

5Moshe commanded the Children of Yisra’el according to the word of HaShem, saying, “Correctly does the tribe of the children of Yosef speak. 6This is the word of that HaShem has commanded regarding the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them be wives to whomever is good in their eyes, but only to the family of their father’s tribe shall they become wives. 7An inheritance of the Children of Yisra’el shall not make rounds from tribe to tribe; rather the Children of Yisra’el shall cleave every man to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. 8Every daughter who inherits an inheritance of the tribes of the Children of Yisra’el shall become the wife of someone from a family of her father’s tribe, so that everyone of the Children of Yisra’el will inherit an inheritance of his fathers. 9An inheritance shall not make rounds from a tribe to another tribe, for the tribes of the Children of Yisra’el shall cleave every man to his own inheritance.

10As HaShem commanded Moshe, so did the daughters of Zelophehad do. 11Mahiah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, became wives to sons of their uncles. 12From the families of the children of Menashe ben Yosef did they become wives, and their inheritance remained with the tribe of the family of their father.

13These are the commandments and the the ordinance that HaShem commanded through Moshe to the Children of Yisra’el in the Plains of Moav, at the Yarden, by Yericho.
