Bereishit (Genesis) 9:18-10:32
18The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth—Ham being the father of Canaan. 19These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole world was spread out.
20Noah, the man of the Earth, debased himself and planted a vineyard. 21He drink of the wine and became drunk, and he uncovered himself within his tent. 22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside. 23And Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid upon both their shoulders, and they walked backwards and covered their fathers nakedness; their faces were turned away and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24Noah awoke from his wine and realized what his small son had done to him. 25And he said, “Cursed is Canaan; a slave of slaves shall he be to his brothers.”
26And he said, “Blessed is HaShem, the G-d of Shem; and let Canaan be a slave to them.”
27“May G-d extend Japheth, but he will dwell in the tents of Shem; may Canaan be a slave to them.”
28Noah lived after the flood three hundred fifty years. 29And all the days of Noah were nine hundred fifty years; and he died.
1These are the descendents of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; sons were born to them after the flood.
2The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madal, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4The sons of Javan: Elishah and Tarshish, the Kittim and the Dodanim 5From these the islands of the nations were separated in their lands—each according to its language, by their families, in their nations.
6The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 7The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
8And Cush begot Nimrod. He was the first to be mighty man on earth. 9He was a mighty hunter before HaShem; therefore it is said: “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before HaShem.” 10The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar. 11From the land Ashur went forth and built Nineveh, Rehovoth-ir, Calah, 12and Resen between Nineveh and Calah, which is the great city.
13And Mizraim begot Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14Pathrusim, and Casluhim, whence the Philistines came forth, and Caphtorim.
15Canaan begot Zidon his firstborn, and Heth; 16and the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Gigashite, 17the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, 18the Arvadite, the Zermite, and the Hamathite. Afterward, the families of the Canaanites branched out. 19And the Canaanite boundary extended from Zidon going toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; going toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zebolim, as far as Lasha. 20These are the descendants of Ham, by their families, by their languages, in their lands, in their nations.
21And to Shem, also to him were born: he was the ancestor of all those who lived on the other side; the brother of Japheth the elder. 22The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24Arpachshad begot Shelah, and Shelah begot Eber. 25And to Eber were born two sons: The name of the first was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and the name of his brother was Joktan. 26Joktan begot Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba. 29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.
30Their dwelling place extended from Mesha going toward Sephar, the mountain to the east.
31These are the families of Noah’s descendents, according to their generations, in their nations; and from these the nations were separated on the earth after the Flood.
