Parsha Toldot Aliyah 2

Bereishit (Genesis) 26:6—26:12

6So Yitzchak settled in Gerar. 7When the men of the place asked about his wife; he said, “She is my sister”—for he was afraid to say “my wife.”—lest the men of the place kill me because of Rivkah for she is fair to look upon!”

8And it came to pass, as his days there lengthened, that Abimelech king of the Philistines gazed down through the window and saw—behold! Yitzchak was jesting with his wife Rivkah. 9Abimelech summoned Yitzchak and said, “But look! She is your wife! How could you say, she is my sister?’ ”

Yitzchak said to him, “Because I said that I would be killed because of her.”

10Abimelech said, “What is this that you have done to us? One of the people has nearly lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us!” 11Abimelech then warned all the people saying, “Whoever molest this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.”

12Yitzchak sowed in the land, and in that year he reaped a hundredfold; thus had HaShem blessed him.
