Sh’mot (Exodus) 6:2 — 9:35
1st Aliyah: 6:2—13
2G-d spoke to Moshe and said to him, “I am HaShem. 3I appeared to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Yaakov as El Shaddai, but with My Name HaShem I did not make Myself known to them. 4Moreover, I established My covenant with them to give the land of Canaan, the land of their sojourning, in which they sojourned. 5Moreover, I have heard the groan of the Children of Yisra’el whom Mitzrayim enslaves and I have remembered My covenant. 6Therefore, say to the Children of Yisra’el, ‘I am HaShem, and I shall take you out from under the burdens of Mitzrayim; I shall rescue you from their service; I shall redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7I shall take you to Me for a people and I shall be a G-d to you; and you shall know that I am HaShem your G-d, Who takes you out from the burdens of Mitzrayim. 8I shall bring you to the land about which I raised My hand to give it to Avraham, Yitschak, and Yaakov; and I shall give it to you as a heritage—I am HaShem.’ ”
9So Moshe spoke accordingly to the Children of Yisra’el; but they did not heed Moshe, because of shortness of breath and hard work.
10HaShem spoke to Moshe, saying, 11“Come speak to Pharaoh, king of Mitzrayim, that he send the Children of Yisra’el from his land.”
12Moshe spoke to HaShem, saying, “Behold, the Children of Yisra’el have not listened to me, so how will Pharaoh listen to me? And I have sealed lips!”
13HaShem spoke to Moshe and Aharon and commanded them regarding the Children of Yisra’el and regarding Pharaoh, king of Mitzrayim, to take the Children of Yisra’el out of the land of Mitzrayim.
2nd Aliyah: 6:14—28
14These were the heads of their father’ houses: The sons of Reuven the firstborn of Yisra’el: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these were the families of Reuven. 15The sons of Simeon: Yemuel, Yamin, Ohad, Yachin, and Zohar; and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these were the families of Simeon. 16These are the names of the sons of Levi in order of their birth: Gershon, Kohath, and Merai; the years of Levi’s life were a hundred and thirty-seven years. 17The sons of Gershon: Livni and Shimel, according to their families. 18The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hevron, and Uzziel; the years of Kohath’s life were a hundred and thirty-three years. 19The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; these were the Levite families, in order of their birth. 20Amram took his aunt Yocheved as a wife, and she bore Aharon and Moshe; the years of Armam’s life were a hundred thirty-seven years. 21The sons of Izhar: Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. 22The sons of Uzziel: Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri. 23Aharon took Elisheva daughter of Amminadav, sister Nahshon, as a wife; and she bore him Nadav and Avihu, Elazar and Ithamar. 24The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah, and Aviasaph; these were the families of Korahite families. 25Elazar son of Aharon took for himself from the daughters of Putiel as a wife, and she bore to him Phinehas (Pincas); these were the leaders of the fathers of the Levites, according to their families. 26This was the Aharon and Moshe to whom HaShem said, “Take the Children of Yisra’el out of Mitzrayim according to their legions.” 27They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh, king of Mitzrayim, to take the Children of Yisra’el out of the land of Mitzrayim; this was the Moshe and Aharon.
28It was on the day when HaShem spoke to Moshe in the land of Mitzrayim.
3rd Aliyah: 6:29—7:7
29HaShem spoke to Moshe, saying, “I am HaShem. Speak to Pharaoh, king of Mitzrayim, everything that I speak to you.” 30Moshe said before HaShem, “Behold! I have sealed up lips, so how shall Pharaoh heed me?”
1HaShem said to Moshe, “See I have made you a master over Pharaoh, and Aharon your brother shall be your spokesman. 2You shall speak everything that I shall command you, and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he should send the Children of Yisra’el form his land. 3But I shall harden Pharaoh’s heart and I shall multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Mitzrayim. 4Pharaoh will not heed you, and I shall put My hand upon Mitzrayim; and I shall take out My legions—My people the Children of Yisra’el—from the land of Mitzrayim, with great judgments. 5And Mitzrayim shall know that I am HaShem, when I stretch out My hand over Mitzrayim; and I shall take the Children of Yisra’el out from among them.”
6Moshe and Aharon did as HaShem commanded them; so they did. 7Moshe was eighty years old and Aharon was eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.
4th Aliyah: 7:8—8:6
8HaShem said to Moshe and Aharon, saying, 9“When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Provide a wonder for yourselves,’ you shall say to Aharon, ‘Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh—it will become a snake!’ ”
10Moshe came with Aharon to Pharaoh and they did so, as HaShem had commanded; Aharon cast down the staff before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a snake. 11Pharaoh, too, summoned his wise men and sorcerers, and they too—the necromancers of Mitzrayim—did so with their incantations. 12Each one cast down his staff and they became snakes; and the staff of Aharon swallowed their staffs. 13The heart of Pharaoh was strong and he did not heed them, as HaShem had spoken.
14HaShem said to Moshe, “Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn; he refuses to sent the people. 15Go to Pharaoh in the morning—behold! he goes out to the water—and you shall stand opposite him at the River’s bank, and the staff that was turned into a snake you shall take in your hand. 16You shall say to him, ‘HaShem, the G-d of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, ’Send out My people that they may serve Me in the Wilderness—but behold, you have not heeded up to now.’ 17So says HaShem, ‘Through this shall you know that I am HaShem; behold, with the staff that is in my hand I shall strike the waters that are in the River, and they shall change to blood. 18The fish-life that is in the water shall die and the River shall become foul. Mitzrayim will grow weary of trying to drink water from the River.’ ”
19HaShem said to Moshe, “Say to Aharon, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Mitzrayim; over their rivers, over their canals, over their reservoirs, and over their gatherings of water, and they shall become blood; there shall be blood throughout the land of Mitzrayim, even in the wooden and stone vessels.’ ”
20Moshe and Aharon did so, as HaShem had commanded. He held the stall aloft and struck the water that was in the River in the presence of Pharaoh and in the presence of his servants, and all the water that was in the River changed to blood. 21The fish-life that was in the River died and the River became foul; Mitzrayim could not drink the water from the River, and the blood was throughout the land of Mitzrayim. 22The necromancers of Mitzrayim did the same by means of their incantations; so Pharaoh’s heart was strong and he did not heed them, as HaShem had spoken. 23Pharaoh turned away and came to his palace. He did not take this to heart either. 24All of the Mitzrayim’s dug roundabout the River for water to drink, for they could not drink from the waters of the River. 25Seven days were completed after HaShem struck the River.
26HaShem said to Moshe, “Come to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘So said HaShem: Send out My people that they may serve Me. 27But if you refuse to send out, behold, I shall strike your entire boundary with frogs. 28The River shall swarm with frogs, and they shall ascend and come into your palace and your bedroom and our bed, and into the house of you servants and of your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls. 29And into you and your people and all your servants will the frogs ascend.’ ”
1HaShem said to Moshe, “Say to Aharon, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the canals, and over the reservoirs, and raise up the frogs over the land of Mitzrayim.’ ” 2Aharon stretched out his hand over the waters of Mitzrayim, and the frogs-infestation ascended and covered the land of Mitzrayim. 3The necromancers did the same through their incantations, and they brought up the frogs upon the land of Mitzrayim.
4Pharaoh summoned Moshe and Aharon and said, “Entreat HaShem that He remove the frogs from me and my people, and I shall send out the people that they may bring offerings to HaShem.”
5Moshe said to Pharaoh, “Glorify yourself over me—for when should I entreat you, for your servants, and your people, to excise the frogs from you and your houses? Only in the River shall they remain.” 6And he said, “For tomorrow.” He said, “As you say—so that you will know that there is none like HaShem, our G-d.
